Who is this qualification for?

Where an employers needs assessment indicates emergency first aid provision, then those satisfactorily completing this training will be awarded their Emergency First aid at work certificate. All training complies with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (First Aid Regulations 1981).

Topics covered

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED, providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.

Course Duration

One day, typically over 8 hours including breaks.

Assessment method

Learners are assessed by a practical demonstration and a multiple-choice theory test online.


Those delegates that successfully complete this course, will be awarded their Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate. Certificates issued can include + ”F for forestry operations and ”High Risk Areas” for those completing the additional learning in class at no extra cost. It is recommended that EFAW holders attend regular refresher training annually.
