Paediatric First Aid
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the Early Years Foundation Sector and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This qualification meets Ofstead guidance in England and CIW regulation in Wales.
How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learners will undertake a minimum of 12 hours of learning excluding breaks. You may choose a full face to face training course or complete a blended course where learners complete 6 hours of on-line learning with assessments, followed by 6 hours of face to face practical learning and final assessment.
Topics include the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider and providing first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive. The qualification also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking or suffering from anaphylaxis.
This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and a multiple-choice theory test.
