Forest School Leaders First Aid

Who is this qualification for?

The Forest School Leader First Aid qualification is aimed at learners who are required to hold a first aid qualification for their licence to practice. The validity of this award is 3-years at which point a award holder may choose to attend this course again or may select a higher level of training. This training aligns with the band 3 of the IOL guidance for those working as forest schools practitioners / leaders.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learners should expect to attend 18 hours typically over two long days.

Topics covered

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider acting in a forest schools leadership position, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries, hypo & Hyperthermia, near drowning and anaphylaxis. ( This training also includes paediatric first aid skills)

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and two multiple-choice theory tests, forest schools first aid and paediatric first aid..
