ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Delegates must be in posession of a current in-date Emergency Paediaitric First Aid or FULL Paediatric first aid certificate and be physically able to undertake a range of practical skills at ground level throughout the refresher.
Please be aware that this is an active course, which will involve taking part practical scenarios that need either emergency or full paediatric first aid. As such, please make sure that you are wearing suitable clothing.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, delegates should be able to provide Emergency paediaitric first aid in their settings.

DURATION

Three hours, however service providers can book longer sessions if their needs assessment indicates this.

COURSE CONTENT
  • – Roles & Responsibilties of the Emergency or FULL Paediatric First Aider
  • – How to contact the emergency services
  • – Know when to stop their service and call for medical help
  • – Dress wounds, manage bleeding & treat minor injuries
  • – Plan for & deal with a range of first aid incidents, such as choking
  • – Perform life-saving procedures, such as CPR & placing a child or infant in to the recovery position
  • – Provide first aid to an infant or child in shock or seizure
ASSESSMENT

Delegates will complete a range of practical assessments observed by their trainer, followed by completing an online exam at the end of the training with qualifying CPD statement for their portfolio of evidence.

CERTIFICATION

Delegates will be issued with a recognised CPD statement.
