Who is this qualification for?
The Immediate Life Support course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, paramedics and student paramedics, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals and other allied health and care professionals. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers working within specialised roles.

How long will it take?
Six hours as a fully face to face or in a blended online format with final face to face skills assessment.
Topics covered
The aim is to train healthcare personnel in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation, enabling the Healthcare Professional to manage patients in cardiac / respiratory arrest until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team and to participate as members within that team. Training consists of lectures and practical sessions.
Assessment method
Learners completing the on-line learning are required to be then assessed by a practical demonstration and completing a multiple-choice theory test paper for full recognition by the GDC. Certification issued is valid for one-year. Registrants are required to attended and complete this training annually.
