Adult & Paediatric First Aid Instructor

Home > Train the Trainer Courses > Adult & Paediatric First Aid Instructor

Those successfully completing this Adult & Paediatric First Aid Instructor course; will be deemed under the current Health & Safety Executive (HSE) definition, competent to deliver Workplace First Aid training.

The competency required to become a professional First Aid Trainer and / or Assessor, is clearly defined by the HSE in that Trainers/assessors should hold the knowledge and competence in providing first aid. This is demonstrated by holding a valid First Aid at Work certificate (or being exempt – namely being a registered Doctor. Nurse or Paramedic), and having the knowledge and competence in delivering training and/or completing assessing. This is demonstrated by holding a nationally recognised teaching and training qualification. From October 2015 those wishing to deliver workplace first aid training and meeting the HASAW Act (First Aid Regulations 1981 / 1982) are required to hold a formal generic Education and Training qualification. The most common option to meet this requirement is the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (L3 EAT) with the unit “Principles and Practice of Assessment”. Other qualifications are accepted; please see the latest guidance for a matrix of other acceptable qualifications.

Who should attend?

This training is for those who already hold a recognised generic teaching and training qualification and wishing to become first aid instructors.
