This course includes the use of initial and diagnostic assessments and requires candidates to plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning, carry out assessments of and for learning and use resources effectively.

In order to complete this qualification, learners are required to:

  • be a minimum of 19 years of age
  • be able to demonstrate the necessary standards of English and Mathematics skills 
    required to undertake this qualification.  This can be evidenced through relevant 
    and current (meaning within the last 5 years) certificates or you can complete 
    an assessment with us prior to the course
  • There is no requirement to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and Training before commencing this qualification

Fees include all training, learning materials, assessments and ongoing support on course.

Course Duration

Approximately 360 hours of study hours. A completion time of 12 months is allowed, however most complete in 5-9 months.

This qualification gives learners the opportunity to;

  • Develop knowledge related to teaching and learning in the further education and skills sector
  • Understand roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Plan to meet the needs of learners in education and training
  • Deliver education and training
  • Use resources for education and training

Assessment & certification

This award is assessed in a number of ways to ensure learner compliance with the syllabus and assessment outcomes.


Learners are expected to write a number of short assignments for each of the sections within the award. The assignments should include theory and relate to real workplace or teaching situations to make relevant points.

The assignments will help you to explore and apply the full teaching and learning cycle. Your tutor will provide feedback and give the opportunity to resubmit assignments if additional work is required.

Teaching Assessment

You will be required to submit written evidence of at least 3, one-hour teaching sessions completed in a real classroom situation.

This witness testimony should be completed by a fully qualified teacher.

You will also be required to submit a teaching log and evidence that you have or can complete a minimum of 30 hours classroom teaching experience for this award.
