Remote First Aid & Pre‑Hospital Training: Empowering Sixth Form Medical Societies (MedSoc’s)
Remote First Aid & Pre‑Hospital Training is strengthening the next generation of healthcare professionals by delivering high‑impact, clinically grounded training and enrichment sessions for Sixth Form Medical Societies. With medical school applications becoming increasingly competitive, schools are seeking credible, real‑world learning experiences that build confidence, clinical awareness and genuine insight into frontline care. This is exactly where Remote First Aid excels. Our programmes include Basic Life Support, with AED in Clinical settings training, which has 8 UCAS tariff points attached, supporting the learners’ medical school applications further in 2027. Sixth Form Medical Societies (MedSoc’s) may book to join our trainers in Chepstow, South East Wales or book them to join your Medical Society at dates and times their learners need supporting input.
Building Future Clinicians Through Real Pre‑Hospital Skills
Sixth form students with ambitions in medicine, nursing, paramedicine, midwifery or allied health benefit enormously from exposure to authentic pre‑hospital training. Remote First Aid provides sessions that go far beyond basic first aid, introducing students to:
- The realities of pre‑hospital emergency care
- Clinical decision‑making under pressure
- Patient assessment and structured communication
- Trauma management and remote‑environment challenges
- CPR, AED use and life‑saving interventions
- Human factors, teamwork and leadership in emergencies
These sessions mirror the expectations of early medical training, giving students a meaningful head start.
Why Schools Choose Remote First Aid
Sixth Form MedSoc’s need partners who can deliver credible, safe, regulated and inspiring learning. Remote First Aid brings:
- Experienced pre‑hospital clinicians and instructors, all with Enhanced DBS clearances
- Scenario‑based, hands‑on learning that students remember, realistic high fidelity CPR manikins with live feedback support
- Alignment with national clinical guidelines (RCUK, JRCALC, Skills for Health (CSTF) & Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Guidelines PHEM).
- Flexible delivery to Sixth Form establishments across Wales and the UK
- Content tailored to medical, nursing and paramedic career pathways
School In-house training support
Remote First Aid enables suitably qualified teachers to deliver high‑quality, UCAS‑recognised first aid training directly to their Sixth Form Medical Society students. This gives schools a powerful, low‑cost way to enrich medical career pathways while meeting regulatory expectations for safe, credible delivery.
Teacher Requirements (Regulator‑Aligned)
Sixth Form Teachers can deliver certified first aid outcomes under the Umbrella of Remote First Aid to their Medical Society learners by holding:
- A recognised Teaching & Training Diploma
- An in‑date First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate
- Completion of Remote First Aid’s First Aid Orientation Day
These requirements ensure teaching meets national standards and maintains the integrity of UCAS‑recognised certification, thus driving costs down further, allowing SMT’s to support Sixth Form enrichment.
Equipment Requirements for Schools
To satisfy regulatory and awarding‑body expectations, the school — if choosing to deliver its own enrichment sessions under the umbrella of Remote First Aid — must provide:
- 1 CPR manikin per 4 learners
- 1 training AED per 4 learners
- Appropriate PPE for teaching resuscitation, including Mouth‑to‑Mouth and BVM techniques
- All training can be delivered in a modular format of no less than 2-hour sessions. For example, the Basic Life Support with Automated External Defibrillator in Clinical Settings training is four hours in duration, so it can be delivered in two sessions, no more than 4 weeks apart.
This guarantees safe, realistic, hands‑on training that mirrors clinical expectations.
Direct Benefits for Medical Society Students
Students gain practical, interview‑ready experience in resuscitation and emergency response—skills that translate directly into:
- Stronger UCAS personal statements
- Confident discussion during MMI and panel interviews
- Demonstrated commitment to healthcare and patient safety
- Real‑world insight into clinical decision‑making
Every session becomes a meaningful enrichment opportunity that supports medical, nursing and paramedic applicants.
Why Schools Should Train More Than One Member of Staff
Training two or more teachers supports internal quality assurance (IQA), meets regulatory expectations and ensures continuity of delivery. It also reduces long‑term costs by keeping delivery in‑house.
Affordable UCAS‑Recognised Certification
Each learner who meets the required outcomes receives a UCAS‑recognised award, priced at £15 per learner, making this one of the most cost‑effective enrichment pathways available to schools, supported by the organisation’s approved staff.
Supporting UCAS, Work Experience and Medical School Preparation
Remote First Aid’s programmes help students strengthen their applications through:
- Evidence of clinical insight and practical skill
- Reflective learning suitable for personal statements
- Talking points for MMI and panel interviews
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care and community impact
Schools regularly report that students feel more confident, more informed and more motivated after participating.
