Introduction
Remote First Aid are pleased to be offering the FAQ Level 3 Award in Immediate Response Emergency Care (RQF) IREC®, providing Learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to provide appropriate immediate care at events, before the arrival of an ambulance.
This qualification was developed in response to the findings of the Manchester bombings report, emphasising the importance of the three Ps: Preserve (life), Prevent (deterioration), and Promote (recovery).
Remote First Aid is pleased to offer its learners a qualification aimed at individuals who work or intend to work in the events and/or security industries. It meets the staffing requirements detailed in the ‘Purple Guide’ for Health, Safety, and Welfare at Outdoor Events. It adheres to the standards agreed by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) and the Health and Safety Executive for first aid qualifications as an acceptable equivalent to First Aid at Work qualifications.
This qualification is Category D on the FPHC PHEM Skills Framework – Nationally certificated non-healthcare professional pre-hospital provider caring for patients as a secondary role, e.g., police officers in specialist roles, fire service IEC, equivalent UKSAR-trained personnel, or enhanced community first responder.
Employers may select suitable staff to enrol in this nationally recognised qualification delivered by Remote First Aid at its dedicated training centre in Chepstow. Alternivly orgnaisations may request our trainers to join their suitable staff on a ratio of one trainer to 8 learners at their suitable training site.
Structure of training delivery
Learners enrolling on our programme delivery will be required to prepare for their classroom learning by completing a range of guided studies before joining our training team, from the supplied approved learning materials that are First Responder Care Essentials – Class Professional Publishing. This guided learning will require around 7 hours of reading and learner reflection, which is recorded in the workbook supplied. Once this is completed, the learners will join our clinical trainers for five days of face-to-face learning, followed by a single revision day and final online assessments that are externally marked.
The content delivery follows the phem-competency-descriptors-and-framework.pdf at level D, and learners are encouraged to read these and cross reference from their supplied learning materails the skills and expected learner outcomes in respect to knowledge retention and skills expectations.

Learners are assessed by means of:
- Sitting the Principles of Pre-Hospital Care for Immediate Responders MCQ Assessment
- Sitting the Pre-Hospital Care Patient Assessment and Immediate Response MCQ Assessment
- Completing the FAQ Level 3 Award in Immediate Response Emergency Care (RQF) Evidence Log
