Remote First Aid is an approved training provider to deliver the HABC Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace. This high‑level qualification supports those positioned at the competence level expected of senior managers, supervisors, consultants, and trainers in UK health & safety practice.
Those being awarded this qualification will support an organisation within the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Regulation 7, which requires employers to appoint one or more competent persons to assist in managing health and safety risks in the workplace.
Move into Health & Safety Leadership Roles
This Level 4 Award aligns with the competence expected for roles such as:
- Health & Safety Manager / Lead
- Compliance Manager
- Risk & Safety Advisor
- Facilities & Safety Lead
- Operations Manager with H&S responsibility
Employers often accept Level 4 as equivalent to NEBOSH General Certificate for many mid‑senior roles, especially in:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Manufacturing
- Local government
- Training organisations
- Outdoor activity centres (relevant to your Snowdonia/outdoor training interests)
Become a Health & Safety Trainer or Assessor
This is one of the strongest uses of the qualification.
With Level 4, you can:
- Deliver Level 1–3 Health & Safety courses
- Deliver COSHH, Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, etc.
- Work as a freelance H&S trainer for training providers
- Become an assessor for workplace H&S qualifications (with ADT, AET/CAVA)
Step Toward Consultancy
Level 4 gives you the credibility to:
- Offer risk assessment services
- Conduct workplace audits
- Develop H&S policies and safe systems of work
- Support SMEs who need competent person support under Regulation 7 of the Management Regs
Many consultants operate with this Level 4 + experience rather than NEBOSH Diploma.
Act as the “Competent Person” for an Organisation
Under UK law, every employer must appoint a competent person.
Your Level 4 Award qualifies you to:
- Lead risk assessments
- Oversee incident investigations
- Manage H&S documentation
- Advise senior leadership
- Coordinate compliance with PUWER, COSHH, Fire Safety, etc.
This is especially valuable in education, healthcare, and training environments

If you want to build further:
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) — Level 4 gives you a strong foundation
- Level 5/6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice
- Specialist routes: Fire Safety, Environmental Management, Behavioural Safety
