Remote First Aid was born out of Outdoor Education, based on its activities in delivering outdoor activity first aid. Its founder, Peter Cook, who holds a wide range of NGB Qualifications, delivers the Expedition Leaders Award (RQF), Health, Safety and Management training at Level 4 and holds a Diploma in Mental Health. Peter also delivers the Award in First Aid Trainer and Assessor and the Award in Delivering Training. Peter is supported by a highly experienced team, which includes other NGB holders, A Holder of the Diploma in Mountain Medicine, and each of his team members also holds national & international teaching & training qualifications, field experiences, who work on the delivery of this award.
Below, we look at how Remote First Aid can support NGB holds in developing recognised teaching & training pathways via the Award in Delivering Training (RQF). This nationally recognised award will develop and support NGB holders. This well‑designed foundation course doesn’t just teach training techniques—it helps trainers understand why those techniques work and how to apply them effectively in real‑world settings. Whether learners are new to delivering training or looking to refine an existing approach, this structured development builds confidence, professionalism, and impact.
This two-day course is run in a relaxed environment, where students will learn how adults learn and retain information, and how to use the Principles of effective training delivery, through structured Planning, preparation, and session structure and how to employ differing Delivery methods, questioning techniques, and time management. This Award nicely supports the Outdoor Activity Instructor Occupational Standards development programmes.
This training is mainly aimed at those who will use pre-prepared training materials to deliver training activities within the workplace, such as qualified and approved staff to deliver in-house training, as opposed to training qualifications. Such activities may include coaching techniques, health & safety inductions, etc.
This qualification provides a good basis to help learners get a ‘foot first’ into training. The focus is on
the effective delivery of training, allowing learners to develop planning, preparation and delivery
skills, including delivery methods, questioning techniques and time management. It is also a great course for those returning to instructing, such as those who have been off work on maternity leave, long-term sabaitcals or retirement.
The course looks at how adults learn, retain information and how a structured learning environment not only provides the instructor but the learner with a safe and memorable learning session, that will have your learners returning for more fun and action.
Remote First Aid provides instructors with other development opportunities, such as mental health in adventure settings, health and safety in the workplace.
