Mandatory Venue Requirements for First Aid Training
This information is for those booking our trainers to deliver training at a venue you provide.
To ensure compliance with regulations and to maintain a safe and effective learning environment, please note the following mandatory requirements:
Trainer-to-Student Ratio and Space
- The regulated trainer-to-student ratio is 1 trainer for every 12 learners.
- You must provide a minimum of 40m² of open floor space (in addition to seating areas) per 12 learners to allow for practical training activities.
Venue Facilities and Equipment
Please ensure the following are available:
- Sufficient furniture, including tables and chairs for all participants.
- Audio-visual equipment: a projector and screen, or a large display screen compatible with the trainer’s PC.
- Good ventilation and adequate lighting.
- Toilet facilities appropriate for the number of attendees.
- Light refreshments such as tea, coffee, water, cups, etc.
Health, Safety, and Accessibility
- Venue must meet all relevant Health & Safety Regulations, including:
- Clearly marked fire exits and muster points.
- A designated on-site first aider available during the training.
- On-site parking for the trainer must be provided.
Outdoor First Aid Venue Requirements
If you wish to host outdoor first aid training, you must also provide:
- A covered outdoor area for use throughout the duration of the course (e.g., a yurt or large marquee, large open garage).
- Outdoor grassed or wooded areas suitable for practical sessions — typically found in forest school or bushcraft environments.
