Strengthening Safety for 2026 and Beyond
As Great Britain prepares to welcome athletes from across the Commonwealth to the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026, Remote First Aid continues to strengthen community safety across Monmouthshire, the Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley and surrounding areas through high‑quality, accredited first aid training.
The Forest of Dean Athletics Club, founded in 1982 and affiliated with UK Athletics, is based at the Five Acres Sports Centre in Berry Hill near Coleford. The club supports athletes across multiple disciplines, including Track and Field, Sportshall Athletics, Cross Country Running, Fell Running and Road Running.
Recognising the importance of robust first aid provision for coaches, leaders and event organisers, the club’s leadership team approached Remote First Aid to enhance their safety and compliance standards. We now provide a full range of UK British Athletics‑recognised first aid training, covering all three categories outlined in the First Aid Guidance for Coaches and Leaders. This includes our comprehensive two‑day Outdoor First Aid course, ideal for clubs delivering Cross Country and Fell Running events in remote or challenging environments.
Remote First Aid is proud to support this affiliated club with training that is practical, scenario‑based, regulation‑aligned and designed for real‑world athletic settings.
This collaboration ensures coaches, leaders and event organisers have the confidence and competence to respond effectively during training sessions, competitions and high‑risk outdoor events. Together, we’re building safer sporting communities and supporting athletes as they prepare for an exciting year of competition.
Example programme:
Remote First Aid can deliver combined Category B and Category C British Athletics First Aid training across a single weekend. Coaches and leaders who only require the Category B First Aid certificate can attend the Saturday session. In contrast, those delivering Cross Country or Fell Running coaching can complete the second day to meet full Category C requirements. This approach makes for a cost-effective approach to each club. Even better, the two-day outdoor first aid course comes with 8 UCAS points, making this an ideal option for those junior club members seeking to strengthen their University Application Portfolio in the 2026 and 2027 Cohort applications.
