    Course Structure

Learners must enrol no later than four weeks before the face‑to‑face training so they have enough time to complete the online learning elements. These include assessing first aid, understanding the internal quality assurance process, and completing the associated online modules covering adult and paediatric first aid training. This alongside essesntial reading list provided to pass this course.

Day one: Roles & Responsibilties in First Aid Training

This section explains what trainers must demonstrate, including their own qualifications, skills, and ongoing Continuing Professional Development. It also outlines the role of the Health & Safety Executive in workplace first aid training, and the role of the Department for Education and Care Inspectorate in Wales in paediatric first aid training. Trainers and training providers must show how they meet their responsibilities and fulfil their duties throughout the process. This applies to both regulated and accredited first aid delivery.

Day three: Assessing first aid training

Throughout this day, you look at how to assess your learners via the industry standard of theoretical assessment such as workbooks/oral questioning/simulated scenarios which are acceptable. You also look at how to develop summative assessments (closed book at the end of unit) exams. By the end of the day, you will have developed your session plan with your assessment processess combined in preparation for day four’s training delivery.

    Day four: Teaching day

Within this day each trainee instructor and assesor will deliver a minimum of 2 hours of training and assesing. This is to a group of students provided by Remote First Aid.

Day five: Review & Consolodation of own learning and final online exam

Learners review their own teaching with their peers, sit the online exam in the morning, and complete their workbooks for submission to their tutors subject to any revisions required. When the online exam results meet the required standard and the learner workbook meets the accepted criteria—including lesson plans, self‑reflections, and related tasks—you receive your certificate electronically within seven working days.
